Driving visitors also referred to as traffic to a website is one of the hardest tasks of a Webmaster. The idea is to not only traffic but to make sure that the traffic that comes to your website is also profitable.
In this article I will go over some important tips to remember when driving traffic to your website and to also make sure it's a profitable activity for you as well.
Tip #1- Research Your Traffic Sources- Before investing any time and money into a new source of traffic, make sure you have used the power of the internet to see what people are saying about the source of traffic. The last thing you want to do is invest a lot of time and energy into a traffic source only to find out that it does not work as good as you thought it would work.
Tip #2- Track Your Traffic Sources- I find that a lot of new comers to the internet are spending time and money on bringing visitors to their website but are not putting in the time to track the source of the traffic. This is one of the most important activities you must do for your online marketing.
If you are not tracking the source, you are literally wasting money. I have found that the 80/20 rule applies with a lot of traffic sources. This simply means that 20% of a traffic source is responsible for 80% of your results.
It is important to quickly identify that 20% percent so that you can shift all your resources behind that particular source.
Tip #3- Beware Of Bulk Traffic Scams- This third tip is to save you some money to scams! A lot of companies have begin to take advantage of newbies coming online, telling them that they will provide 100,000 visitors to their site for only $69. These are scams! This type of traffic will have no monetary benefit to your website.
They use the inexperience of newbies to rip them off, yes they will send 100,000 visitors to your site but it will be 100,000 visitors that did not ask to be sent to your website. In essence the traffic is useless to you because the people they will be "dropping off" at your site do not want the product or services you offer.
